A Taste for Nightshade by Martine Bailey, 458 pages

A dark and disturbing historical mystery set in late 1700s England. It takes the reader from the lows of transportation to Australia to the highs of passionate revenge in Manchester. A well-done read.

An outstanding piece of historical fiction looking at Martin Luther and his wife. I really didn't know anything about him before this.

The Devil in the Marshalsea by Antonia Hodgson, 384 pages

A murder mystery set in 1727 London's debtor prison. This was fascinating and I'm glad I got to review it for NightOwl Reviews.
