Zombies of Byzantium by Sean Munger, 238 pages

Very fun take on the zombie genre, 8th century A.D., the Muslims are trying to take Constantinople, and undead creatures are trying to eat everyone.

How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back, 328 pages

I love how utterly mind candy like this series is. The ending of this book had me worrying more about Angel than I have in any of these books.

Dead City:Blue Moon by James Ponti, 328 pages

This is a great teen zombie series, not nearly as dark as Maberry's stuff but still a great read. I can't wait to see what happens next. I hate discovering a new series early on, because then I have to wait for each new book.

Fire & Ash by Jonathan Maberry, 537 pages

The final book in this teen zombie series. I've loved them all, these weren't light and fluffy books, and each one had moments that had me angry and/or heartbroken but still kept me eagerly reading. While they may be in the teen section, these are still an outstanding read.

Fiend by Peter Stenson, 295 pages

Two meth heads come down from a weeklong trip and discover that the world they knew is gone. Zombies (or Chucklers) as they're called, roam, looking for victims. This was one of the oddest takes on the zombie genre I've read. I've never done drugs in my life, so it was interesting to see behind the scenes of an addiction to meth like that. I think Lisa would love this book for the zombies and the utter grittiness of it.

Zom-B Angels by Darren Shan, 182 pages

This has been a keep me on the edge of my seat read, with the plot advancing just enough each book to have me eagerly awaiting each one. This one had a major WTF moment at the end, because revitalized zombies isn't enough of a twist.

Zom-B Underground by Darren Shan, 180 pages

This is the sequel to one of the oddest and most captivating zombie series I've read in a while. B has waken up (SPOILER ALERT) after having her heart ripped out by a zombie. But B is not alive in the normal sense of the word. In a world that equates B and B's revitalized zombies with the mindless, brain-eating zombies, is B able to make a stand for what is right?
This is a teen book that had me eagerly turning pages, and now anticipating the next one coming into the library.

World War Z by Max Brooks, 281 pages

I've heard about this book forever, but had never read it since we didn't have it at the library. My husband was nice enough to download it for me and I finally got around to reading it. I can see why it's considered one of the best zombie books ever.

Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan, 347 pages

This was a hilarious zombie book with the twist that animals become zombies. Well worth the read.

The New Deadwardians by Dan Abnett & I.N.J. Culbard, 176 pages

This graphic novel explores England after the death of Prince Consort Albert, when zombies rose and rolled over the country in a wave of death. To combat the tide, scientists came up with the ability to turn humans into vampires, making them basically invisible to zombies. It has been reserved generally for the upper class, leaving the common man to toil away, facing death from zombies and bites from those vampires who can't or won't control their urges. Because of the changes in society, there remains only one murder detective at Scotland Yard, George Suttle, and he is called in to investigate the death of a fellow vampire, who has died under mysterious circumstances. Suttle soon finds himself ensconced in a deeper mystery than he ever expected, one that may have ramifications far beyond a simple murder.
This was an interesting take on vampires and zombies, combining the two with the Anglophile mania sweeping the US at the moment. The artwork and storyline were really intriguing, and I will be looking for the next book.

The Zombie Whisperer by Jesse Petersen, 447 pages

I'm a huge fan of Jesse Petersen's zombie books. I've had this book on my Nook but have been waiting to read it, because once it's done there's no more. But the anticipation finally got to me. This fourth book in the Dave & Sarah series was wonderful. I know there are people still planning on reading it so I won't go into plot details, but it was great.

Shambling with the Stars by Jesse Petersen, 33 pages

This was a short story e-book by one of my favorite zombie authors. It looked at the very beginning outbreak of the zombie plague and how it would have maybe hit LA. As always, a lot of fun to read.

Flesh & Bone by Jonathan Maberry, 469 pages

This was the third in what has been an outstanding zombie series. Each one is dark, enthralling, and keeps you on the edge of your seat, while eagerly awaiting the next book. Just when you think the world can't get any darker, it does. I now have to wait (and not patiently) for the final book in this quad.

Monster Planet by David Wellington, 302 pages

This was the final entry in the zombie trilogy and I have to admit that I finished it just to say I did. This was the greatest zombie book and it was a little too freaky-deaky and disjointed for my taste. Not a great book to start the year with.

I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus by S. G. Browne, 201 pages

This was a hilarious zombie book I was sent to review for Night Owl Reviews. Lisa would love it.

Breathers by S. G. Browne, 310 pages

I just got sent the sequel to this book to review "I saw Santa Claus Eating Mommy" so I wanted to read the first book. This is a unusual twist on the zombie genre, with the zombies having awareness but no rights. So what happens when a zombie decides he wants the right to live a normal life? I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and twisted, making it a great read for those who like zombie books.

The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury by Robert Kirkman & Jay Bonansinga, 277 pages

Lisa has reviewed this book already so I will just say I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead, be it tv, graphic novels, or books. It's people stripped down to their core essential, be it good, bad, or just plain human.

Monster Nation by David Wellington, 285 pages

This is the sequel to Monster Island, and this was an interesting zombie book. I know it's been out for a while, but I'd never read it before. David Wellington did a great job laying the groundwork with multiple layers to the story, and I'm intrigued to see where he goes with the next book.

21st Century Dead edited by Christopher Golden, 338 pages

This was a collection of never-before-published zombie stories by some outstanding writers. There were some that will stay with me for a while because they were just that creepy. I especially liked the thought of just how far will a mom go for her baby, even when it's dead.

Dead Inside Do Not Enter by The Lost Zombies Community, 160 pages

This is probably one of the saddest and coolest zombie books I've ever read. It's not a book per se, with a storyline and characters, but is instead a collection of notes and such left behind by survivors and victims during the zombie outbreak. It features explanations of why people did what they did, notes looking for loved ones, and suggestions for survivors.
