For forty-two years, Sally Harrison has been building a library.

Each year, on her daughter’s birthday, she adds a new book to her shelves – with a note in the front dedicated to her own greatest work.

But Ella – Sally’s only child – fled to Australia twenty-two years ago after a heated exchange, and never looked back. And though Sally still dutifully adds a new paperback to the shelves every time the clock strikes midnight on July 11th, her hopes of her daughter ever thumbing through the pages are starting to dwindle.

Then disaster strikes and Ella is forced to return to the home she once knew.

She is soon to discover that when one chapter ends, another will soon follow…

Still Life by Louis Penny, 306 pages

The discovery of a dead body in the woods on Thanksgiving Weekend brings Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his colleagues from the Surete du Quebec to a small village in the Eastern Townships. Gamache cannot understand why anyone would want to deliberately kill well-loved artist Jane Neal, especially any of the residents of Three Pines - a place so free from crime it doesn't even have its own police force.

But Gamache knows that evil is lurking somewhere behind the white picket fences and that, if he watches closely enough, Three Pines will start to give up its dark secrets...

Caped and Fabulous by Isabel Jordan, 207 pages

Bryn Terrell hasn't had a truly great day since supervillains popped up in her city.

What she needs is a partner. Someone with powers complementary to her own who won't trigger her imposter syndrome. Someone like...

Declan Rhoades.

Sure, he's grumpy. Rudely sexy. And he has zero interest in helping her fight crime. But he owes her one—in a big way. It was a perfect plan.

Until a snowstorm stranded her at his Fortress of Grumpitude and everything changed.

Now, she's stuck sharing a cabin—and only one bed!—with a genetically engineered, antisocial lumberjack whose only friends are a three-legged wolf and a surly beaver. (No, those aren't euphemisms for anything.)

She knows she'll eventually have to get back to her job, with or without him.

But the real question is...whatever will they do to pass the time while they wait out the storm?

Thicker Than Water by Monica Ross, 396 pages

 Plus-sized? Puh-lease. Don’t label me.

That's my new mantra. I'm Zelda Mazur Katterman, and I don't care if I don’t fit society's mold. Not when Drew and Aithan, my sexy, loving husbands, have shown me what true beauty is. Who cares about cultural “standards” when I have two amazing men by my side?

Oh, and my reflection in the mirror? I see a woman who's conquered life, love, and even those back-stabbing Greed, Spite, and Pride. I've found my happy place, wrapped in the arms of my wonderful little family.

But life has a way of dropping obstacles in our path, and this time it’s two untimely surprises that’ll change everything. For better or worse? I’ll decide that … after I stop freaking out.

If you find cussing offensive, if you skip past the sex scenes, or if the idea of multiple love interests makes you clutch your pearls (not in a good way), The Fatkini Chronicles ain’t the books for you. But if you want to see a curvy girl with a chronic illness find romance and learn to love herself with the help of two cinnamon roll heroes who are all about her happiness, then this why choose series is calling your name.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry, 377 pages

Nora Stephens’ life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small-town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

The Poisoned Chocolates Case by Anthony Berkeley, 252 pages

Reissue of one of the great puzzle mystery classics of England's Golden Age of crime fiction; plot involves a group of upper-crust amateur sleuths who set out to solve a murder that has baffled Scotland Yard; catnip for fans of Agatha Christie and Margery Allingham.

Disapproving of such modern marketing techniques, Sir Eustace is about to throw away the chocolates in disgust but changes his mind when he learns that Graham Bendix, another member of the club whom he hardly knows, has lost a bet with his wife Joan and now owes her a box of chocolates.

Bendix takes the box home and, after lunch, tries out the new confectionery together with his wife. A few hours later Joan Bendix is dead, whereas her husband, who has eaten far fewer chocolates, is taken seriously ill and hospitalized.

Bodies From the Library: Lost Tales of Mystery and Suspense from the Golden Age of Detection, 324 pages

This anthology of rare stories of crime and suspense brings together 16 tales by masters of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction for the first time in book form, including a newly discovered Agatha Christie crime story that has not been seen since 1922.

At a time when crime and thriller writing has once again overtaken the sales of general and literary fiction, 'Bodies from the Library' unearths lost stories from the period between the World Wars when detective fiction captured the public’s imagination and saw the emergence of some of the world’s cleverest and most popular storytellers.

This anthology brings together 16 forgotten tales that have either been published only once before – perhaps in a newspaper or rare magazine – or have never before appeared in print. From a previously unpublished 1917 script featuring Ernest Bramah’s blind detective Max Carrados, to early 1950s crime stories written for London’s Evening Standard by Cyril Hare, Freeman Wills Crofts and A.A. Milne, it spans five decades of writing by masters of the Golden Age.

Most anticipated of all are the contributions by women writers: the first detective story by Georgette Heyer, unseen since 1923; an unpublished story by Christianna Brand, creator of Nanny McPhee; and a dark tale by Agatha Christie published only in an Australian journal in 1922 during her ‘Grand Tour’ of the British Empire.

With other stories by Detection Club stalwarts Anthony Berkeley, H.C. Bailey, J.J. Connington, John Rhode and Nicholas Blake, plus Vincent Cornier, Leo Bruce, Roy Vickers and Arthur Upfield, this essential collection harks back to a time before forensic science – when murder was a complex business.
